Fort Worth National Archives Branch Opening a New Family Research Center

FORT WORTH – Pull out that old box of family photos and start quizzing Grandma.
Digging up your family roots is going to get a little easier and cheaper next year when the National Archives at Fort Worth open a family research center in the bustling West Seventh Street area.

For family history researchers, the Montgomery Plaza location will be a convenient upgrade from the center’s current home in a dreary 1940s-era warehouse surrounded by security fences at the Federal Depot in south Fort Worth.

“It’s not very welcoming. We wanted to be in a place that was more attractive to the public instead of an industrial park,” said Preston Huff, regional administrator for the archives. “That whole Seventh Street area is just exploding. We think it’s a perfect location.”
