BillionGraves Index – Indexed Records - Name index of burial records courtesy of BillionGraves which is an expansive family history database of records and images from the world’s cemeteries, all tagged with GPS locations. The index is arranged alphabetically by the name of the deceased, initials of spouse, age, and date of death. Place of death or county of death is coded. 5,962 images as of 10 February 2012.

California, Death Index, 1940-1997 – Name index of death index created by the California Department of Health Services, Vital Statistics Section in Sacramento. Index includes name, sex, date and place of birth, date and county of death, father’s last name, and mother’s maiden name – 9,366,543 as of 7 March 2012.

California, County Birth and Death Records, 1849-1989Imaged Records – Registers, records and certificates of county birth and death records acquired from county courthouses. This collection contains some delayed birth records, as well. Some city and towns records are also included. Records have not been acquired for Contra Costa, Imperial, Kern, Kings, Modoc, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Siskiyou, Solano, Tulare and Ventura counties. Name index and images of funeral home records from the Halsted N. Gray – Carew & English Mortuary Collection, located at the San Francisco Public Library. Images for all years in collection can be browsed, but name index currently covers only years 1896-1931. Collection includes a number of different funeral homes acquired over time by the Halsted N. Gray – Carew & English Mortuary company, most from the San Francisco area, but also including some from Burlingame, Stockton, and Sacramento.
