Sequoia Genealogical Society’s Collection Needs a New Home

Build a new library and leave out the genealogy section? This is an odd one…

Tulare City Manager Darrel Pyle said he and his staff are working to find a new home for the Sequoia Genealogical Society‘s records collection, which won’t make the crosstown trip to the new library building.

“We’re fully engaged, working to deliver a win-win resolution,” he said. “It’s our goal to deliver a solution that’ll satisfy everyone.”

Tulare Library Director Michael Stowell announced the genealogy collection won’t be housed at the new library building, scheduled to open next year. The collection has been housed at the library for more than three decades and was in the new building’s original construction plans.

The new building, at the southwest corner of Cross Avenue and M Street, will be larger than the current one and also house the Tulare City Council’s chambers.

  1. Do you the think the library’s board of directors, or the City Council, will put two and two together when patronage at the new library drops off due to the lack of a genealogy section?

  2. No, they all attended public schools and then went to government funded or grant supported colleges… There isn’t a lick of sense among them it it was all added together…
