FGS Genealogy Conference Early Bird Deadline – Sunday, July 1

The following news release was received from Paula Stuart-Warren with the Federation of Genealogical Societies:

In just over two months the 2012 Federation of Genealogical Societies Conference will take place in Birmingham, Alabama from August 29 – September 1. The local host is the Alabama Genealogical Society. Don’t be too much of a last minute planner, though. Next Sunday, July 1, 2012 is the last day to register at the early bird discount price. It’s $50.00 off the full four-day price.

Under the conference theme “Indians, Squatters, Settlers and Soldiers in the ‘Old Southwest,’” you’ll find a variety of subjects of interest to any genealogist. The program has some of the top presenters in our field and a whole range of people who have never been on an FGS program before. Many of the presentations themselves are also new to an FGS conference. Browse the topics day-by-day or by speaker or track at http://fgs.org/2012conference/program.

The Exhibit Hall is almost full. Check here http://www.fgs.org/2012conference/exhibits/ to see the list of wonderful vendors and organizations. As usual, Leland and Family Roots Publishing Company will play a prominent part in the Exhibit Hall. Other conference features are free wireless in the hotel and convention center, free Exhibit Hall computers to check your email or a website (thank you RootsMagic), fantastic door prizes, networking opportunities galore, and much for the support of our valuable genealogical societies, too. On Wednesday, the sessions are geared toward those who are involved in the workings of genealogical societies. Whether you are an officer, board member, committee chair, or other volunteer, these sessions offer great information and interaction that you can take back to your own society. Check here to see the list of these Focus on Societies sessions: http://fgs.org/2012conference/program/. Some of these also apply to our own genealogical pursuits of writing, blogging, personal websites, and more.

Check the FGS Conference News Blog for updates, breaking news, parking, hotel, and more on some of the speakers and topics.
