The Pierce County (Wisconsin) Historical Society Wants Family Histories

The following excerpt is from an article in the December 21, 2010 edition of the River Falls Journal.

Pierce County Historical Assn.

At the present time, the Pierce County [Wisconsin] Historical Association (PCHA) has about 112 family histories on its office shelves.

These range in length from a few pages about one family to 300 or more pages with multiple family lines traced—back several hundred years in many cases up into the present century. From Aadalen to Zirnhelt—alphabetically. Almost all are loaded with dates, most have photographs.

Style and format vary by volume, as each researcher/family genealogist has his/her own way of putting together the information. Some are indexed, making their use much simpler. Others go by family surname, yet each is good. Even a few have been donated on CDs, which requires different tools to access.

These genealogies are available for use by visitors to the PCHA office.

There is a need for—a request to the public—more family histories to be donated. There is plenty of shelf space for more. How to submit? Three-ring binders with sheets (preferably in plastic sleeve protectors), with photos—copied and identified—are a welcome inclusion in the stories.
