Ron Clayton Honored for His Work of Documenting Randolph County, Indiana Residents.

A Florida man [Ron Clayton] recently received a national genealogy award for his ongoing effort to document everyone who has ever lived in Randolph County [Indiana].

Ron Clayton of Altamonte Springs, Fla., late last month received the 2010 Federation of Genealogical Societies Director’s Award. He continues his Herculean task, albeit at a much slower pace, in spite of a recent cancer diagnosis.

Clayton’s father, Wallace Clayton grew up in the Randolph County area. Clayton for several years spent summers in Randolph County to research legal records, newspapers and histories of the area. Knowing he was descended from one of the area’s many large pioneer families he wanted a way to share that information with his grandson. He began nearly 10 years ago researching connections to local pioneer families and recording his findings on his personal computer.
