Birth Records and Alternatives

Jeff's Helpful Birth Record Hints Jeff Bockman recently posted an excellent article that he wrote for Heritage Quest Magazine in 2004. It’s titled “Birth Records & Alternatives.”

As we research back in time, civil birth records often become nonexistent, since vital registration in many states didn’t start until the early 20th century. Jeff deals with finding birth records whether the civil authorities produced them or not.

His posting is as a pdf file, leaving the design just as Brian O’Conner laid it out in 2004. Click on the illustration to download the 729k pdf file.

  1. I like this post a lot cz, thanks to this blog, I came to know about the article by Jeff Bockman. Sure, its a problem researching back in time, with missing pieces of information in family trees. However, what I found out was that there are some state agencies that share birth records online, and a lot of vital records can be extracted from such sites.

One such website that I know, and particularly recommend is birthdetails.com. It is a great website where authentic information can be found very easily!
