Glenda Wood of Escanaba, Michigan, Passes at 60

Glenda Wood

ESCANABA [Michigan]- Glenda L. Wood, 60, of 1125 Stephenson Ave., Escanaba, died June 16, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.

She was born Oct. 29, 1948, in Manistique, the daughter of Floyd and E. Garnett (Shippy) Brock and was a graduate of Manistique High School with the Class of 1967. She also graduated from Bay de Noc Community College and Lake Superior State University where she received her degree in accounting. Glenda was self-employed as an accountant in the Escanaba area.

On May 1, 1971, the former Glenda L. Brock married Norman C. Wood at Zion Lutheran Church in Manistique. They moved to Escanaba shortly thereafter.

Glenda was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Escanaba, the North Town Gang, the Delta County Business and Professional Women’s Organization, the General Federal of Women’s Club and the Tin Lizzie Red Hat Society.

She was also a member and past president of the Delta County Genealogical Society and was a member and past secretary of the U.P. Vintage Tin.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at the Crawford Home in Escanaba. A memorial service will follow at 2 at the Crawford Funeral Home with Rev. Peter Anderson officiating. A luncheon will follow at Christ the King Lutheran Church.Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Manistique.

The Messier-Broullire Funeral Home of Manistique and the Crawford Funeral Home of Escanaba is assisting the family with the arrangements.
