Labrador & Newfoundland Death Records from 1950 to 1968 Digitized

The Department of Digital Government and Service NL Vital Statistics Division has digitized death records that were registered in Labrador and Newfoundland from the years 1950 to 1968.

Approximately 59,000 death certificates were transferred online this last year, allowing the public access for research. This is the first digital transfer of vital statistics records to the provincial archives. The plan is to add more death records, as well as marriage, and birth records at the Archives The Rooms website.

Searching the database: It can be searched by the decedent’s name; date of death; sex; marital status; place of death; or date of registration of death. A digitized death registration is attached to each record.

Click on the link or on the illustration to search. I notice that the site comes up as insecure if you’re running Chrome. I didn’t worry about it, as it’s a government website, and I’ll take my chances.
