Have a Happy Thanksgiving Holiday & A Painful Update

Here’s wishing all my American readers a Happy Thanksgiving holiday – and the best to everyone else besides!

I don’t post much about my personal life, but I think it’s time I update my friends.

I’ve not written a lot this year. Honestly, it’s been a tough one. On August 8, 2019, I had a fusion on my cervical vertebrae in the attempt to relieve my neck and upper back pain – caused by spinal arthritis. It worked for a while, but then the extra pressure created by the fusion kicked into the nerves directly above and below (C5-7). So I’ve been living with constant pain, made somewhat better by drugs. Setting at the computer is the worst position I can have, so I’ve avoided it. Now it seems that my doctor has found a “cure” of sorts which should allow me to return to a somewhat normal routine. After two procedures, doing “test shots” to my spine, which removed the pain temporarily, I’m scheduled for a procedure on December 9 where he’s going to burn the nerves in two, cutting the pain entirely for 6 months to a year. The nerves will grow back, but we’ll deal with that when the time comes. So… I’m looking forward to being somewhat pain-free for a while. And I plan to be more active with my blog and newsletter. That’s enough about my personal issues. Just thought you should know why you haven’t heard much from me.

Since COVID-19 hit us, all of our lives are upside-down it seems. This pandemic has caused everyone stress that they never imagined. We’re praying that this gets behind us soon, and all of you can go back to a somewhat normal life.

Family Roots Publishing just keeps printing new books – both research guides, as well as source records. While finishing some projects, we are still in the midst of others. 2021 looks to be a busy year. Thanks to everyone for your support, and kindness. Stay well!
