National Archives Branch at Laguna Nigel, California Closing Soon

NARA Laguna Niguel Randy Seaver is reporting this morning that things are not good in sunny southern California as deals with NARA.

The staff at NARA – Pacific Region (Laguna Niguel) has been informed that the branch will be moved to Perris, California, joining a NARA facility that currently specializes only with federal courts. It looks like the most negative impact will be to Orange County residents.

Dates have not been announced, but this is clearly a budgetary move, brought on by this lousy economy.

  1. Interesting history on the site that goes back to the Nixon era (when he had his Western White House at nearby San Clemente) when the building was a “white elephant” rescued by the General Services Administration…….
