Digitized Death and Burial Records 1538-1854 Now Available at Scotlands People

scotlandspeople-logo It was announced today that Death and Burial Records 1538-1854 have now been added to the online digital images of the Old Parish Registers of Scotland (the OPRs) – all available to the public at ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk. The Births & Baptisms 1534-1854, and the Banns & Marriages 1538-1854 were already posted.

This marks the completion of a digitization project which began about eight years ago. The OPRs are the records kept by the Church of Scotland for the 300 years before the start of the civil registration system, which began in 1855.
