Using the Index to Massachusetts Vital Records – 1841 to 1910

Massachusetts Vital Records Index It’s been a while since I last used the “Index to Vital Records,” on the Massachusetts Archives website. The last time I did, it only had death indexes on it. Now I see that I can search Births, Marriages, and Deaths. Note that the Archives holds vital records for 1841 – 1915. This online index covers records through 1910.

Searches can be made on first name, last name, town, and start & ending years, or any combination thereof. I did a search for my Titus cousins who lived in North Adams, and found three deaths, as well as one marriage. The marriage turned out to be for Julia Adams (who married a Horton). According to the index, Julia married in 1891 in North Adams. I can find the original record in Volume 415, Page 85.
