The Haynor Library Will Soon Get Their Own Genealogy – Local History Facility in Alton, Illinois

haynorThe Hayner Library, in Alton Illinois, will celebrate their Grand Opening on March 21 at their new, main location at Alton Square Mall. “The $2 million-plus project has been years in the making and will transform the library operations in terms of space, structure, technology and services.”

The new Alton Square Mall location is located in 18,000 square feet of space on the first floor. It replaces the 6,000-square-foot location on the mall’s second floor, which was a branch library.

The big news for genealogists is that the original Hayner Library building, currently the youth library, and located at 401 State Street, will be reorganized for genealogy & local history and will house the Illinois Room collection!
