I’m Motivated to Get My Stories+Pictures Available to My Family & Freinds

In looking back at RootsTech 2018, I’m coming away motivated to do something meaningful with my many pictures – and visuals in all forms. I am immediately setting about doing the following:

  1. Get my slides, film, and videos hi-res digitized. I’ve converted many of my father’s slides over the years, but most of that work was just taking pictures of the projected slides. At RootsTech, after seeing what the latest tech can do with my transparencies, I’ve committed to have them digitized properly.
  2. Get stories tied to my many pictures. Too many of the pictures have nothing more than a simple caption for ID purposes – if digitized. If not digitized, theres currently nothing in many cases! I now want to add my memories to the pictures, and share them with my extended family and friends, so they can add their memories. Yes – the tech has advanced to the point where this can be done simply, with the photos and memories digitally stored for the long-term. I’ve realized that in many cases, it’s friends that may have the memories to fill in the details on many of the images

The motivation came from not only RootsTech lectures and visits to the exhibit hall, but it also came about after spending a hour or so viewing the Photo+Story Galley. Those photos and stories really grabbed my heart. While enjoying the exhibit I realized that I have hundreds (if not thousands) of photos with which I could do the same thing… I’m betting that my brother, Steve, will work closely with me on this project.
