Leon County, Florida, Heritage Book in Process

Leon County Book Committee The Tallahassee Genealogical Society wants folks to share their stories about Leon County and the people of the area. They are currently putting together the Leon County Heritage Book and need short stories and photos.

The book is to be made up of a collection of memories and anecdotes about:

  • Local people,
  • Places,
  • Events and
  • Experiences.

Each household is to submit one story and one photograph. Limit your stories to 500 words to 500 words. However, if you’re dealing with Leon County pioneer families before 1890, the society is allowing 1,000 words.

Get your stuff submitted by June 30, 2009. A hardback book, selling at $50 is expected to be published before year’s end. Just because you submit a story, this does not obligate you to buy a book.

See the more detailed announcement in the April 4, 2009 edition of Tallahassee.com.
