Updates to FamilySearch Vital Records: February 1-13, 2012

The following U.S.A. vital-records oriented databases have been added or updated at FamilySearch.org since January 31st. 15 new data items have been added for nine States.

In addition, these updates have been made to U.S. Censuses:

  • 1790, now at 410,887 records and 6,398 browsable images
  • 1800, now at 540,614 records and 18,862 browsable images
  • 1810, now at 826,307 records and 28,087 browsable images
  • 1820, now at 1,225,304 records and 38,089 browsable images
  • 1830, now at 1,824,528 records and 152,970 browsable images
  • 1840, now at 2,566,831 records and 197,511 browsable images
  • 1890, now at 6,280 records and 1,746 browsable images

 

We’ve also updated all five of the GenealogyBlog Online Database Links Files.

Iowa, County Marriages 1838-1934 – Indexed Records – Name indexes for county marriages in Iowa. Currently, portions of the following counties are represented in this collection: Adair, Appanoose, Audubon, Boone, Buchanan, Calhoun, Clarke, Clinton, Crawford, Davis, Decatur, Des Moines, Dickinson, Dubuque, Franklin, Hamilton, Hancock, Hardin, Harrison, Henry, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Lee. 194,874 records as of 1 February 2012, up 73,084 from 7 June 2011.

Illinois Probate Records 1819-1970 – Browsable Imaged Records – Images of will books, administrations, journals, inventories, guardian’s records, and order books from various counties in Illinois. The content and time period will vary by county. Illinois created probate courts in 1819. This is a collection of probate records, which includes will, indexes, and other documents created to track the distribution of estates of deceased individuals who lived in Illinois. Probates were generally recorded in the county of residence. This collection covers probate records created by Illinois courts, 1819-1970, but the content and time period of the records will vary by county. A few additional county court records are also present. 774,437 images as of 3 February 201 – up 35,988 images since 20 December 2011.

Colorado, Statewide Marriage Index, 1900-1939 – Browsable Imaged Records – Card index created by the Division of Vital Statistics, Department of Health in Colorado. The index is arranged alphabetically by groom’s name providing county, names of husband and wife, age, race, date and place of marriage, certificate number. Some cards are out of order. 454,881 images as of 6 February 2012. [NEW]

Oregon, Wasco County Records, 1854-1960 – Browsable Imaged Records – This collection includes digital images of land and marriage records filmed at the office of the Wasco County Clerk in Roseburg, Oregon. Land records (1854-1960) and Marriage records (1856-1920) – 92,612 images as of 9 February 2012, up 43,625 from 2 December 2011.

North Carolina, County Records, 1833-1970 Browsable Imaged Records – Collection of various county records including, wills, guardianships, estates, voter registration books, coroner’s inquests, etc. It was filmed at the North Carolina Department of Archives and History in Raleigh. The collection includes Beaufort County Wills 1808-1968; Columbus County Estate Files 1812-1968; Durham County Widow’s Dower & Year’s Support 1881-1944 (indexed in front of book); Gaston County Estates 1839-1970 & Wills 1847-1968 Vol. 38-41; Lincoln County Marriage Records 1892-1916; Mecklenburg County Estate Files 1880-1952; Northampton Coroner’s reports 1793-1905; Northampton County Estate Records 1782-1930; Richmond County Coroner’s inquests 1906-1967; Stanley County Coroner’s inquests 1914-1957; and Wake County Death Certificates 1900-1909 – 343,681 images as of 9 February 2012 – up 12,804 images as since 6 January 2012.

New Mexico, County Death Records, 1907-1952 – Browsable Imaged Records – This collections contains images of death records acquired from the county courthouses of Sandoval, Socorro, and Valencia. 5,479 images as of 9 February 2012. [NEW]

Idaho, Cassia County Records 1879-1960 – Browsable Imaged Records – Marriage, probate, soldier discharge, school census, deeds, patents, homesteads, mining location, coroners, and mothers pension records located at the county courthouse located in Burley. Includes Marriages 1908-1947, Coroner’s Inquests 1918-1922; and Probate Records made up of Estate Files 1919-1990, and Record of Wills 1891-1956. – 204,720 images as of 9 February 2012, up 66,435 from 16 December 2011.

Wisconsin, Marriage Index, 1973-1997 – Indexed Records – Index of marriages from the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services in Madison. — 948,961 records as of 10 February 2012. [NEW]

Wisconsin, Death Index, 1820-1907 – Indexed Records – Index of deaths from the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services in Madison.— 435,208 records as of 10 February 2012. [NEW]

Washington, County Records, 1856-2009 – Browsable Imaged Records – Collection of various records including official actions, probate records, indexes, etc. The records are from various counties in Washington State, 1856-2009. This is an ongoing collection. – 1,906,289 images as of 10 February 2012. [NEW]

Vermont, Franklin County Probate Records, 1796 to 1921 – Browsable Imaged Records – Images of probate papers located at the Public Records Office, General Service Center, Middlesex. – 168,858 records as of 10 February 1012.

Massachusetts, State Vital Records, 1841-1920 – Browsable Imaged Records – Massachusetts births, marriages and deaths, 1916-1920 and state amendments to vital records, 1841-1920 located at the state archives in Boston. This collection is being published as images become available – 356,053 images as of 10 February 2012 , up 36,495 from 27 January 2012.

Florida, Death Index, 1877-1998 – Indexed Records – Name index of Florida death records created by Florida Department of Health and Vital Statistics in Jacksonville, Florida – 5,187,074 records as of 10 February 2012, up 4,715,274 records from 29 March 2010, and added 59 years of data.

California, San Mateo County Records – 1856-1967 – Browsable Imaged Records – County records including marriage intentions, naturalizations, deeds, patents, homesteads, and military service discharges – 883,705 images as of 10 February 2012 – up 236,238 images since 23 November 2011.

California, Death Index, 1905-1939 – Browsable Imaged Records – Death index located at the Office of the State Register, Sacramento, and the Butte County Courthouse, Oroville. The index is arranged alphabetically by the name of the deceased, initials of spouse, age, and date of death. Place of death or county of death is coded. 5,962 images as of 10 February 2012. [NEW]

Maryland, Register of Wills Books, 1629-1983 – Browsable Imaged Records – from court records at the Register of Wills in Maryland. Includes the following counties: Alleghany, Anne Arundel, Baltimore City, Caroline, Calvert, Caroline, Carroll, Cecil, Charles, Frederick, Garrett, Harford, Howard, Kent, Montgomery, Prince George’s, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, St. Mary’s, Talbot, Washington, and Worchester. This collection is being published as images become available – Browse through 847,290 images as of 13 February 2012 – up 44,519 images since 28 December 2011.
