The website where the information is now posted also has numerous other <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bermudabiographies.bm\/bio-index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Bermuda biographies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalgazette.com\/news\/article\/20160804\/story-of-newspaper-founders-slave-ancestry\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.genealogyblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Samuel-Toddings_250pw.jpg\" alt=\"Samuel-Toddings_250pw\" width=\"250\" height=\"280\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-38479\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Fresh historical research has revealed that one of Bermuda\u2019s prominent journalists was also a direct descendant of ex-slaves.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bermudabiographies.bm\/Biographies\/Biography-SamuelToddings.html\" target=\"_blank\">Samuel Seward \u201cS.S.\u201d Toddings<\/a>, publisher and editor of the Colonist newspaper from 1869 to 1911, and founder of the Mid-Ocean News in 1911, had both a mother and grandmother who were once enslaved.<\/p>\n<p>The details was uncovered by Meredith Ebbin, the founder of the site <a href=\"http:\/\/bermudabiographies.bm\/\" target=\"_blank\">bermudabiographies.bm<\/a>, with research by LeYoni Junos.
