13 Years of Data Added to the Maine Death & Marriage Indexes

Despite having created quite a flack a while back when the Maine legislature made access to Maine vital records under 100 years old more difficult, it seems that the state is now doing some things that make genealogists’ lives a little easier…

The Maine State Archives has now posted an additional 13 years of data to their Marriage and Death Indexes online. The data now runs right up through December 31, 2009.

This means that we now have free online access to the Marriage index 1892-1966 & 1977-2009, as well as access to the Maine Death Index 1960-2009 at the Archives site.

You may access these indexes at: www.maine.gov/sos/arc/ to use:

I ran across this info in the August 8 edition of the Bangor Daily News. See the article.
