  1. My GGF was born in Duchy Schleswig in the 1840s. I do not know the village or town. In what way would this book help me trace his origins?

  2. The Map Guide to German Parish Registers is useful once the researcher has found what the city or town of origin happened to be. Although there is info dealing with archives, etc., the real value of the volumes can only be used once you know the exact place.

  3. Thanks for the response. Are you aware of any active project to transcribe & index the parish registers from Duchy Schleswig to enable searches by name?
