Discovering Your Irish & Scots-Irish Roots Seminar in Albuquerque

The Albuquerque Genealogical Society and the Special Collection Library have just announced that a “Discovering Your Irish & Scots-Irish Roots” Seminar will be held on March 11, 2009. The all-day program of the Ulster Historical Foundation features Fintan Mullan, Director & Dr. Brian Trainor, Research director.

The seminar topics are:

  • History of the Irish and the Scots-Irish
  • 18th Century Emigration to America
  • Church Records
  • Irish and Scots-Irish Research
  • History from Headstones
  • 17th Century Ulster Plantation Resources

The cost is $30 for AGS members, and $35 for non-members, registered by March 7. The fee is $10 more for late registrations. Registration includes a tasty Irish lunch and live Irish music.

The event will be held at the Montgomery Church, 7201 Montgomery Blvd., NE, between Louisiana Blvd., and Pennsylvania Street. The hours are from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. For more information, see the AGS website at www.abqgen.swnet.com, or contact Joleen Streit at 867-5644.
