Check Out the Atlantic Heritage Center in Somers Point, NJ

 Atlantic Heritage Center

SOMERS POINT [New Jersey] – Walking through the Atlantic Heritage Center at 907 Shore Road is like going on a treasure hunt with a really good map.

The three-story brick building sits between views overlooking the Historic Bayfront District and Somers Mansion and holds thousands of documents and historical artifacts from all over Atlantic County dating back to the late 1600s.

The collection includes items such as high school yearbooks, newspapers, deeds, phonebooks, photos, clothing, tools, toys, guns, dolls and even a deed signed by 10th U.S. President John Tyler Jr., establishing Bargaintown as a port of entry.

The Atlantic Heritage Center is open 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. There is free parking behind the building, near the entrance. For information see www.atlanticheritagecenternj.org or call (609) 927-5218.
