This just in about a George Morgan Seminar coming up in Louisville, Kentucky. I’ve also added the event to the 2009 GenealogyBlog Genealogical Events Calendar.
On Saturday, October 17, 2009, the Louisville Genealogical Society will hold its annual Family History Seminar and Book Fair at the Beargrass Christian Church, 4100 Shelbyville Road in Louisville.
Our featured guest speaker is genealogist George G. Morgan of Tampa, Florida. Mr. Morgan is president of Aha! Seminars, Inc., a company providing training to library personnel and genealogists since 1996. For more information about Mr. Morgan, go to his Web site at http://ahaseminars.com/
For our seminar, Mr. Morgan’s topics are (1) Bring Them Back to Life: Developing an Ancestor Profile; (2) State-Land States & Federal-Land States: Researching U.S. Land Records; (3) The U.S. Naturalization Process and Documents: 1790-1954; (4) Using the HeritageQuest Databases.
Everything except the guest lectures and lunch are included in the $5 general admission charge. This year’s free classes include Adoption Research (led by Susan Brown), Library Resources (Joe Hardesty), Planning a Research Trip (Betty Darnell), On-line Databases (Ivan Baugh), Orphan Trains: A History (Mel Arnold), Whole Family Research (Deborah Campisano), Organization 101 (Barbara Davis), and Cemetery Preservation (Ann Johnson).
Our book fair attracts both local and out-of-state vendors. In addition, we have a silent auction including genealogical, regional, and other related items.
A box lunch may be ordered with preregistration. Further seminar information and a registration form will be posted on our Web site as they become available: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~kylgs/seminar2.html Send inquiries to lougensoc@yahoo.com
