Filming for Angelina Jolie’s “Salt” May Disrupt Traffic Around the New York State Library in Albany through Monday, May 4

Albany, New York Anyone planning to visit the New York State Library or Archives in Albany over the next few weeks might want to rearrange their schedule, or at least allow plenty of time for the detours they will encounter.

Parts of I-787 around the New York State Plaza, where the library, archives, museum, and state office buildings are located, will be shut down for the filming of a car chase scene for Angelina Jolie’s latest film, “Salt.” No word on whether the actress will even be in the Capital District. Shooting is scheduled to run from Thursday, April 23 (today) through Monday, May 4, but could take two weeks longer if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

Filming will be halted during the morning and evening rush hours so that state workers are inconvenienced as little as possible. I imagine that visitors can expect to find fewer parking places as film crews, stuntmen and actors will be filling some of those spots.

Read the story in the April 22, 2009 edition of the Albany, NY Times Union.

Thanks to my friend, Pat Morrow, for the above information.
