Jeannine Leslee Parker Burkitt, 61, Passes On

Jeannine Leslee Parker Burkitt, 61, of Madison Avenue, Piketon, Ohio was born September 11, 1947, in Chillicothe, Ohio. She was the daughter of Robert Leslie Parker, who survives, and Virginia Lucille Bethel Parker. She departed this life April 11, 2009 at 2:23am after a twelve year battle with breast cancer.

Jeannine was also a dedicated genealogist and historian. She was a member of the Pike County Genealogical and Historical Society and earlier this month was named as a member of the First Families of Ohio, the Settlers and Builders of Ohio, and Civil War Families of Ohio. She also assisted her husband greatly in plot and character development as well as costuming in local historical stage productions. She was and ardent sewer and reader. She loved Christmas, cooking for her family, daffodils and visiting Hawaii.

Calling hours for Mrs. Burkitt will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Monday, and from noon until the time of service on Tuesday at the Boyer Funeral Home in Waverly and the funeral service will be held 1:00pm at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 with minister Scott Dunn and former student Deven Atkinson officiating.
