Book Published on the Graveyard of the Carnmoney Parish Church, Newtownabbey, UK

A new book about the graveyard at the church was launched this week by the Newtownabbey branch of the North of Ireland Family History Society.

‘The Hidden Graveyard’ brings to a conclusion years of meticulous research and information gathering. Praise for the publication was led by Rev. Mercia Malcolm and Newtownabbey’s Deputy Mayor, John Scott. Both spoke of the importance of the information and how gravestone inscriptions provided family stories unlikely to be found elsewhere. One gravestone records the tragic death of a boy on July 5, 1914, who drowned saving his two friends in Belfast Lough.

Copies of ‘The Hidden Graveyard’ are now available from Newtownabbey Borough Council at Mossley Mill or Sentry Hill at £10 per copy plus postage, or by contacting Sandra Ardis on 028 90 862012 or emailing sandraardis@btinternet.com
