On this Memorial Day Weekend, flowers are a part of our remembering. We love to visit cemeteries over this weekend and see the proud American flags and the sea of flowers.
Speaking of flowers, did you realize that over 50-some flowers are edible?? I did a Google search and found this excellent website and explanation: http://www.ext.colostate.edu/pubs/garden/07237.html
The list includes squash, pumpkin, gladiolus, hollyhock, daylily and nasturtium! I’ve been served dendrobium orchid flowers at two genealogy conference dinners recently. Maybe that’s the new thing?
How many of these blossoms can you identify? Check out the list from Colorado State. And then go pluck some “salad” from your flower garden.
Donna, aka Mother Hen, until next peek.
