Howard Stern’s Family History

The following excerpt is from an article by Daniel Klein, posted in the March 2, 2013 edition of the Jersey Journal:

[Daniel Klein] was listening to Howard Stern earlier this week and he talked about having done an oral history with his parents, Ben and Rae, recently. Stern, who descends from Eastern European Jews, told a few stories that his parents had told him:

It seems that his maternal grandmother died at a young age and no one even bothered to tell the children. They attended the funeral, but had to figure out what was going on all on their own. His grandfather sought to put his kids up for adoption rather than care for them himself, but they ended up with relatives instead. When they were old enough to work and do the cooking and cleaning, they went back to live with their father.
