Convicted Document Thief Loses Job at Museum’s Bookstore

The following excerpt is from an article by Paul Post in the November 14, 2012 edition of The Saratogian:

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Lance Ingmire had one of the toughest jobs of his life Wednesday — following orders from high-ranking state officials to fire a long-time friend.

Ingmire is president of the non-profit Friends of the New York State Military Museum on Lake Avenue, which runs the museum’s bookstore to raise money for programs there.

This summer, he hired Dan Lorello of Rensselaer, a former state archivist and Civil War historian, to staff the store, a part-time position that paid $11-per-hour.

However, Lorello pled guilty in 2008 to grand larceny, a felony, after stealing and selling valuable collectibles from the state Library, located in the New York State Museum building in Albany. He spent two years in state prison, most of it at Marcy Correctional Facility, near Utica.
