Salt Lake Christmas Tour……………. Week’s Peek

DID YOU KNOW that Vermont, Texas and California were their own country before they were a state in the United States?

Yepper. Vermont and Texas were both truly independent. Vermont actually fought against New York to maintain independence and had its own money coined. The republic of Vermont lasted from 1777 to 1791 when it became the 14th state. Texas remained an independent nation after defeating Santa Anna and the Mexican Army at San Jacinto and joined the U.S. in 1845 as the 28th state.  Hawaii was an independent kingdom annexed by the US and became our 50th state in 1959.  California was independent for one month after the Mexican American War until it became our 31st state in 1850.

NOW THAT I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION, let’s talk about the Salt Lake Christmas Tour. In three months it will be over; now there is a sobering thought. We are working on lining up the team of professional helpers right now and getting their class topics settled, so do stay tuned to the website and this blog.

It’s not a bit too early to make your reservation with Patty Meitzler  for the tour (www.saltlakechristmastour.com)  and check with your airline (or Delta our favorite airline) to see about reservations. The tour officially begins on Sunday, December 2nd and finishes up on Saturday, December 8th…………… but Patty will help you if you’d like to add a few days on at the beginning or the end of your week with us.

Will looking at this lovely poinsettia help get you into the mood??

Donna, aka Mother Hen, until next week.
