Salt Lake Christmas Tour………….. Week’s Peek

Any good guesses as to what this is??? Hint: I was taking photos in Greenwood Cemetery here in Spokane.  If this was your ancestor’s tombstone, what, if anything, would you do about this “rusty lichen?”  Likely there is nothing much you can do unless you wish to further damage the stone itself. Before doing anything I would surely do a Google search looking for “how to clean a tombstone” or “how to remove lichen from a tombstone.”

I could re-type paragraphs about the hows and whys of tombstone cleaning but I’ll let you do the looking, finding and studying if you have the need. I just know it’s not the right thing to take a wire brush and scrub away.

Donna, aka Mother Hen, until next week.
