I had the privilege of attending and speaking at the the Escondido Family History Fair in Southern California today. They asked me to speak last year, then the fires struck and they had to cancel the fair. This year they came back and made up for the “missing year.” About 350 attendees showed up and enjoyed a wide variety of classes, with a half dozen tracks running similtaneously.
I presented the keynote address at 9 am – giving a lecture titled, “It’s Not Your Father’s Oldsmobile – Genealogy in 2009 and Beyond.” I spoke in the chapel – and it was pretty well packed – even with additional seating in the back of the room.
My three seminar lectures during the day were:

- State Census Records & Substitutes

My last lecture ended about 2:30, so I spent most of the rest of the afternoon visiting with folks, including my friend, Randy. See his blog for details… I want to thank Debby Horton (who recommended me to the group), Kathleen Hofer (who initially invited me to speak), Cory Woolf, Ted Kolb, and Clayton Evans for their hospitality. A good time was had by all.
