Planning Your 2012 Get Away: How About a Personalized Genealogy Tour?

According to an article posted in the Canberra Times, one of next year’s big travel trends will be to take a personalized genealogy tour. I can think of worse ways to spend two weeks, but hiring someone to handle a personalized tour isn’t something I would have guessed as making the “hot” list in travel. Now, this does come from Australia, and the trends may not run the same in the U.S. However, it will be interesting to see if this really does become a big trend down under, and if the trend crosses the Pacific. Personalised genealogy tours, Titanic centennial cruises, camping out in a London backyard during the Olympic Games and using Facebook to choose a congenial seat mate for those long-haul flights are some of the hot travel trends tipped for 2012.

Marketing communications company J Walter Thompson is predicting a techno-revolution will see travellers using social media to ”hand-pick desirable seating arrangements” on flights. International booking company Ticketmaster is already testing interactive seat maps of concert and sporting venues, linking the maps to Facebook and allowing customers to check where friends are sitting…
