June A. Smith 1925-2011 – RIP

June A. Smith of Bremerton, Washington passed away Oct. 15, 2011. the following is excerpted from her obituary, found in the October 17, 2011 edition of the Kitsap Sun.

June A. (Fuller) Smith, of Bremerton, passed away in California at the age of 86. She was born in Charleston (now Bremerton) to Victor and Gladys (Clark) Fuller Sr., on June 4, 1925, and married Robert Franklin Smith at the First Christian Church in Bremerton on January 28, 1950. They lived primarily in Bremerton, but also Poulsbo, Wenatchee, Elma and Benson Lake, and enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Their son, Martin Duane Smith, lives in Sacramento, CA, with his wife, Debi.

Besides the First Christian Church, she belonged to the Kitsap Mineral and Gem Society; Scottish-American Military Society; Daughters of the American Revolution; Daughters of the American Colonists; Daughters of the Union Veterans; United States Daughters of 1812; Scottish Clan MacKenzie; Olympic Chapter Eastern Star; Bremerton Ski Cruisers; Lady Lions; Sons of Norway; Bremerton Elks; Kitsap County Historical Society; NARFE; and Puget Sound Genealogical Society, in which she was a charter member.

She was twice regent of Elizabeth Ellington Chapter, NSDAR; treasurer and registrar for Washington State Society, NSDAR; volunteer genealogist at NSDAR Headquarters in Washington, DC; speaker/instructor for genealogical and patriotic groups throughout the Northwest; editor, copyrighter and publisher of historical books; and a volunteer at Cancer Discovery Shop. Her special award was the “DAR Community Service.”
