Hilton Head Heritage Library Needs Volunteers

The following teaser is from the August 13, 2011 editiion of Bluffton Today.

The Heritage Library [Hilton Head, South Carolina], a research center for history and genealogy, needs volunteers in a number of capacities.

“Not necessarily historians or genealogists or Civil War buffs or researchers or librarians,” says Isobel Bitner, head librarian. “But if you’re interested in any of these, it makes volunteering here more fun. We need help in reception and the usual library duties.”

The library is staffed entirely by volunteers.

“Because they are on our Web site, www.heritagelib.org, publications get wide readership. We need help with writing, copy editing and proof-reading.”

“We can always use more people who are familiar with PC hardware and software, and who have had some experience in web design and maintenance,” said Linda Piekut, head of Information Technology.
