Salt Lake Christmas Tour Week Peek #35

Despite the 106o temperatures, daughter Jane and I had a great visit in Kansas City with sis-in-law Sharon. (I’ve known her longer than I’ve known her brother we realized!) The visit to the World War I Memorial Museum was the best……….. you entered and walked over a “glass” floor and looked down on the poppies in Flanders Field…… some 9000 orange silk poppies, each one representing 9000 men who died…… and from 38 countries of the world! If you live near, I urge you to visit.

Thanks to all of you who shared that YES INDEED they read/enjoy the “Peeks” every week… but you know, henceforth, please SIGN YOUR NAME for I just don’t recognize the email addresses. But you all did not reply as to what you want for classes and/or tours this year. (A couple did, yes.) How many would enjoy a bus trip out to Antelope Island? Not much to see but it is a “place” you’ve not been. Or maybe down to Provo and/or BYU?? You please tell me!

To remind you, Leland has signed Thomas MacEntee to come again and spend time with us. Now are you thinking, “that’s just over my head?” Well, NOT; doing genealogy online is the way to go these days and Thomas will help you learn that you can do it! Come mentally prepared to learn from this premier genealogy teacher.

Here are Jane and I on the morning we departed KC for home……… with stuffed backpacks! I had six #1 huge tomatoes in mine!!

Donna, aka Mother Hen, until next week.

  1. I hope that Bruce Buzbee will also be back for another Roots Magic class. I would love to see another class about the new Familysearch. A class on New England research would be very helpful, perhaps with a part of the class, or maybe a separate class about the NEHGS website, which is available at the library.I have been chasing R.I. ancestors and would like to learn anything new about how to research the area as well as online resources. I am sure that there are others on the tour with New England ancestors.

  2. I don’t know whether my last message got to you. I’d like a class that would explain some of the new equipment that I see advertised for genealogy use.
