Austrian Genealogy Research at FamilySearch.org

I haven’t seen a whole lot available in book form on doing Austrian genealogy research. The Handy Guide to Austrian Genealogical Records by Dagmar Senekovic went out of print years ago. However, the researcher looking for information on their Austrian ancestors can now find a wealth of information online. Following are a few important links to Austrian online data now found at FamilySearch.org:

  1. Looking for records pertaining to information on my grandfather Ferdinand D Diensl. He was born in Vienna Austria about 1870 and immigrated to the US around 1900. He earned his apprenticeship as a baker in Vienna in 1898 as a baker at 18 yrs of age. My grandfather died in Woodville MS about 1947. He was married to my grandmother Alma Hammons Denstel. The spelling of my grandfathers last name was changed in the US to sound more Anerican during WWll. He was also know in the US as Fred and had a brother who came to US also but he drowned in AK. I think his name was Isaac. They were loggers for awhile.

  2. Are there any people that will do family history research in Upper Austria? I do not speak German and it is very difficult for me to read so I would like some help at a reasonable cost. Please contact me if you are skilled at doing this research and will charge an affordable fee. Thanks.
