New USA Vital Records Data at FamilySearch.org

The following USA vital records databases have been added or updated at FamilySearch.org since I last blogged about the FamilySearch vital records just over 2 weeks ago. Note that most of the databases posted are digital images with waymarks to locate one’s ancestor. Numerous imaged databases also include indexes, so in many cases, it’s not difficult to find one’s ancestor, even if the data isn’t indexed as such.

California, San Mateo County, Colma, Italian Cemetery Records – Imaged Records – Index cards and daily log book of the Italian Cemetery in Colma. This collection is being published as images become available. 18,592 images as of 12 July 2011

Indiana Marriages 1811-1959 – Indexed in partnership with the Indiana Genealogical Society. Name index of marriages recorded in the Indiana Territory and in the State of Indiana between 1811 and 1959. This collection includes searchable index data for marriage returns and licenses from the following counties: Adams, Allen, Bartholomew, Benton, Blackford, Boone, Brown, Carroll, Clark, Clay, Daviess, Dearborn, Decatur, De Kalb, Delaware, Dubois, Elkhart, Fayette, Franklin, Harrison, Henry, Huntington, Marshall, Ohio, Owen, Rush, and Sullivan. Microfilm copies of original records are available at the Family History Library and at family history centers. Currently this collection is 43% complete. Additional records will be added as they are completed. – 1,205,180 Records as of 20 July 2011 – up 44,359 records since 3 June, 2011.

Maryland, Register of Wills Books, 1792-1983Digital images from court records at the Register of Wills in Maryland. Includes the following counties: Baltimore City, Caroline, Cecil, Kent, Prince George’s, and Queen Anne’s. This collection is being published as images become available – Browse through 326,778 images as of 22 July 2011 – up 17,630 images since 5 July 2011

Montana, Cascade County Records, 1888-1945Imaged Records – County record collections from the following record custodians. History Museum in Great Falls: Probate, voter registers, naturalization and immigration records. Great Falls Genealogy Society: Probate case files, # 535-3165, 1903-1926; court orders for dependent children, 1903-1937; old age applications, naturalization records, pre 1945; and Vital Records. This collection is being published as images become available. 19,761 images as of 18 July 2011

Montana, Rosebud County RecordsImaged Records – Land records, vital records, voter lists and probate case files located at Rosebud County courthouse, Forsyth, Montana – 97,864 images as of 12 July 2011.

Ohio, Montgomery County, Probate Estate Files, 1850-1900Imaged Records – Images of probate estate files from the Montgomery County Records Center and Archive in Dayton, Ohio. Usually the files are chronological and have a case file number. This collection is being published as images become available. 216,991 images as of 22 July 2011 – up 191,779 images since 27 June 2011!

New York Orange County Probate Records 1787-1938Images of probate records and estate files from the Orange County Surrogate’s Court in Goshen, New York. At this time this collection does not have a name index or any finding aid. – 122,242 images as of 22 July 2011 – up 32,013 images since 5 July 2011

New York Queens County Probate Records, 1899-1921Images of probate records and proceedings from the Queens County Surrogate’s Court in Jamaica, New York. – 105,176 images as of 22 July 2011 – up 23,531 records since 27 June 2011

North Carolina, County Records, 1833-1970 Imaged Records – Collection of various county records including, wills, guardianships, estates, voter registration books, coroner’s inquests, etc. It was filmed at the North Carolina Department of Archives and History in Raleigh. This collection is being published as images become available. To date, the site includes Beaufort County wills , 1808-1968; Gaston County estates & wills, 1894-1970; and Northampton Coroners’ reports Vol 1 1793-1905 – 90,283 images as of 22 July 2011 – up 12,924 images since 27 June 2011.

Utah, Salt Lake County Deaths Records, 1908-1949Imaged Records – This project was indexed in partnership with the Utah Genealogical Association. Name index and images for Salt Lake County death records from 1908-1949. The volumes are arranged chronologically. The entries are arranged numerically. Deaths from 1908-1949 were recorded on certificates . They are arranged numerically by registered number then by date of death (i.e. month & year). Some records in this collection may be for deaths occurring before 1908 where the remains were re-interred between 1908 and 1949 – 116,482 Records as of 18 July 2010 – up 35,512 records since April, 2010.

Utah, Salt Lake County Birth Records, 1890-1915Imaged Records – Name index and images of Salt Lake County Birth records from 1890-1915. The records are arranged in volumes chronologically. The records from 1890-1908 were recorded in registers and are arranged numerically. From 1908-1915 births were recorded on certificates (four to a page) and also arranged numerically by registered number. 33,262 records from 1,687 images as of 18 July, 2011.

Washington State County Records 1885-1950Imaged Records – Collection of various records including official actions, probate records, indexes, etc. The records are from various counties in Washington State, 1885-1950. Currently data for Adams, Asotin, and Pierce counties is posted. This includes probate records for Adams and Asotin counties. This is an ongoing collection. 223,653 images as of 22 July 2011.

U.S.A. Social Security Death Index – A name index to deaths recorded by the Social Security Administration beginning in 1962 – 90,023,057 Records as of 24 July 2011.
